Everyone was a little happy that it’s Friday!

Folks, if you live in the north/northwest metro and haven’t been to the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge – I highly recommend going! There’s nothing overly exciting there in terms of buildings or activities, but the hiking is beautiful, and there’s animals everywhere. We saw mostly birds on our hike today, but black bears frequent the refuge, as well as deer, turkey, sandhill cranes, and friendly smiling squirrels.

It’s an awesome little oasis only minutes away.

I’m giving you, my lovely faithful blog followers, a first-look at a new product I’ll be offering starting this fall – throw pillows!

These have been a project that’s been rolling around in the back of my mind since last fall, and I’ve finally starting breaking ground on them. Pictured are three images of about 12 that I have ready to print. My hope is to have a good selection of scenes and seasons.

As of right now, I’m planning on selling them both as individual pillowcases and as stuffed pillows. Prices are to be determined at this point (I’m still nailing down my exact cost to make), but I’m hoping to be competitive with Target pricing on their higher-end throw pillows.

Big-box pricing on local goods, local images – you really can’t get much better than that!

I’m excited about these, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Minnesota has a lot of small town jewels.

I was on the road a lot yesterday, as I drove down to Red Wing for an artist reception for a juried exhibition I was accepted into. If you live in Red Wing or plan to travel there, I highly recommend stopping by the depot gallery. It is such a unique space with great art.

On the way home I spotted this perfect little western bank in the small town of Miesville, population 125. Such a fun find!
