Its been awhile since I’ve seen this guy!
Last summer, we had a bald eagle pair that nested on the lake. They were around all the time, constantly fishing. Around this time last year, we even started seeing juvinille eagles.
This year we haven’t seen them until today. And although he was here, he flew out over the middle of the lake and didn’t stick around.

Happy Memorial Day. I’d like to keep it simple today, so here we go.
I spent my Memorial Day admiring the birds that have become such a powerful symbol of freedom and the American dream. The dream that is possible because of all past, present, and future military men and women. Thank you to all of those who have served, and thank you to the families who have sacrificed and mourned those who gave all.
If you have never been to the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN, I highly suggest going!

Over New Years we made plans with good friends to do a cabin weekend later in January. “There are so many bald eagles up there! Hopefully you could photograph some!” Well friends, we made the drive up this afternoon, and there were eagles EVERYWHERE. Not close to our car, but fun to see. Then we follow a bend in the road and there was one in the ditch munching on a dead deer! We wheeled back around and pulled over, but we spooked him away from the deer. But he flew a loop and came back to land right above me! I was losing it. They are SO beautiful! Definitely one of my favorite shooting moments so far this year!
