Happy Easter, all!

Today is one of those days in which I am so glad comes once a year. A day of spiritual rejuvenation, if you will. That beautiful reminder that I am a beloved child of God.

Our savior displayed on a criminal’s cross
Darkness rejoiced as though heaven had lost
But then Jesus arose with our freedom in hand
That’s when death was arrested and my life began

This song is one of my favorites, especially so on Easter. Want to talk about a song that gets my hands up in the air? This one.

It just seems like I come around to this time of year, and I’m feeling a little disconnected from God. And then -BOOM- enter Easter Sunday stage left, and my heart is like, Oh yeah, this is it. Not that one should need a reminder that someone DIED for me, but evidently I do.

So today, I’m smiling.

Mainly because of all our mighty savior has done for me (and for you!), as unfathomable as it can sometimes seem, but also because at our family gathering today, I got to FaceTime with the precious baby girl of my cousin Clayton, and his wife Amy at the hospital – not yet 48 hours old! Named after her Great Grandmama, sweet Bonnie Juniper Johnson was born 2:30am on Saturday, March 31st weighing in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces.

A new little babe that brought so much perspective on what today is really about.
